Norman W. Achen, U.S. Army Air Forces, shot down about 15 August 1944, held as a German POW until May 1945 (Stalag Luft III / later escape accounts). After the war: UCLA science degree; president of Hyland Laboratories and other California medical companies; later attorney, judge, lecturer. He died in 2010. Independent web search did not show him as founder of Fisher Scientific, later Thermo Fisher. Thermo Fisher was a later bidder in the broader Baxter / lab-products industry, which is not the same as Achen founding Fisher. IMDP of Las Vegas under CEO Norm Achen, and a $3 million introduction to Birndorf, remain his account.

Palmaz writes that by the 1991 U.S. iliac approval, coronary experience already existed in Rotterdam, Kokura, Mainz, Nancy, Milan, Madrid, Buenos Aires, and elsewhere. Howard C. Birndorf co-founded Hybritech with Ivor Royston in 1978, San Diego’s first biotech company, sold in 1986 for about $450 million. The New York Times, 18 August 1996, called him the Johnny Appleseed of a biotechnology forest and described Nanogen’s chip-based diagnostics. UCSD’s oral-history biography: he later participated in the founding and management of companies including Gen-Probe, IDEC, Ligand, Neurocrine, Nanogen (1993), and Illumina (1998). He was co-founder of Nanogen and served as CEO and chairman into 2009. Hooman’s claimed 1999 wedding attendance, safety-syringe partnership, and a $3 million introduction of Norman Achen to Birndorf are not on those public pages.

Nature, 13 February 1997. Dateline San Diego. Headline as printed: Heat rises over UCSD ‘misconduct’ charge. Subject: Maurizio Zanetti, then a tenured UCSD immunologist. Paolo del Guercio, a junior in that lab, alleged fabricated results and violations of university policies on animals, human experiments, and biosafety, and filed a 1995 whistleblower suit. An earlier UCSD ad hoc committee had found evidence of fabrication in published articles. A later faculty panel, two months before this piece, decided he had not fabricated or suppressed results, but had violated university experiment guidelines, and recommended a strongly worded letter of reprimand. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in San Diego had intervened in the lawsuit. Zanetti denied scientific misconduct. Jonas Salk / Immune Response Corporation is named as a research setting. Cremated remains to be spread at Table Rock Lake, where his mother’s remains were spread in 2019.

Thirty-six-page declaration by Saqvan Ali, resident of San Diego, employed by AT&T Mobility January 2017 through March 2021 as a Customer Service Representative at Del Mar Highlands / Del Mar Heights. Purpose: preserve personal observations, not to reach conclusions beyond his knowledge. He says SIM information associated with Hooman was routinely collected and given to management; people accessed accounts when Hooman was not present; he called AT&T ethics/hotline about ten to fifteen times; he was told to stay away and mind his own business; he received a final warning for alleged insubordination; he left March 2021. Parties page names John Goodrich as former Del Mar store manager, Jesus Barraza as district manager who told him to stay away, and Brian Brown. 2018 Goodrich quote, “words substantially similar to”: “Hooman's not crazy. These crazy ass people track him all day. I wonder why.” Early 2019: he personally witnessed Hooman’s sister, “Ommid,” enter Del Mar “visibly emotional and distressed,” discuss electronic accounts, and indicate she had passwords, messages, photographs, iCloud-related information, and other account data on her phone, and that she did not want Hooman to become aware of it.
